Well hello there, welcome (back) to Heaped! This is the corner of the internet where I used to put old pieces of writing which never ended up going anywhere. Some of those pieces have stayed up and will remain up here, others have been (rightfully) smuggled back into a drafts folder. Of what is left there is: academic work that I found too interesting to leave on a google doc, personal articles I had published elsewhere, and some very sketchy poetry. I thought that this would always be my secret of the internet but as I have muddled into my mid-twenties I have felt increasingly lost and confused about the world and what I want to make of it. Everything that I thought would be clear by this time in my life remains murky. It only seems right, therefore, to use this moment of change to do some self-acceptance, and maybe be a little bit brave.
So let me reintroduce myself: from now on this space is a real compost heap of thoughts that can get stacked up and settle in together. I will post a new article every Wednesday. Each week will cover personal thoughts on fashion, culture, arts and literature and little bits of life that capture my attention and might, perhaps, capture other people's. This is an outlet, a safe space for the little thoughts as well as the big ones. There will be no real rhyme or reason, this is just a meander through the compost heap of odds and ends that trickle through the brain of a job searching, fashion conscious, slightly neurotic girl in her mid-twenties.
You could think of this as my weekly write that you are welcome to read.
